About this page.

There are many resources available throughout Canada for the home-based business entrepreneur. Whether you are young or old, just starting out, or an established home-based business owner, you will find something to peak your interest in this list of small business resources. I have limited the list to those resources available within British Columbia and on a national level.

General information.

Canada / British Columbia Business Service Centre. The centre is jointly operated and funded by the federal and provincial governments through Western Economic Diversification Canada, and the Ministry of Small Business, Tourism and Culture. Their web site includes an online small business workshop, links to web sites for small business, and an interactive business planner.

Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD). WD is committed to helping Western Canadian small and medium-sized businesses grow and create jobs. Whether your business has one employee or one hundred, WD offers a network of business professionals to help you with business planning and development, accessing capital, export or trade development, selling to government markets, and providing you with information on government programs and services for which you may be eligible.

One-Stop Business Registration for B.C. Cut through the red tape and take care of several government forms all at once by visiting this web site.

Helpful Home-Based Business Services. Provides helpful start up packages for home-based businesses in B.C. The package includes city licensing regulations (customised for the appropriate location), sources for financing, statistical information, GST information, business plan sheet, and information on how to market your product and/or service. A bi-monthly newsletter allows home-based businesses to advertise at a considerably lower rate than other paper media. E-Mail: hhs@mag-net.com.

Canadian Home and Micro Business Federation. Provides home-based and micro business owners with information, inspiration, advice, education, mentoring, marketing assistance, and a public forum for political and social advocacy.
