| This site uses frames. If your browser is Internet Explorer version 4 or later, the left-hand frame will contain an expandable menu system. Clicking on a green ball or the associated heading will expand that menu item and display either a hyperlink title (preceded by a red dot) or a sub-menu option (preceded by a green ball). The colour of the green ball will change to yellow when selected. Clicking on a red dot or associated hyperlink title will open that web page in the right-hand frame (the frame you are now reading). Clicking on the yellow ball will contract that menu or sub-menu item and the colour of the ball will change to green. Other browsers may open with the full menu expanded, in which case it will be necessary to simply click on the required link name to open that web page in the right-hand frame. The menu will remain in the left-hand frame allowing instant access to, and instant switching between, hyperlinks. Some sites may not allow the use of frames and will open up a in full window hiding the left-hand frame. If this happens, click the back button until the left-hand frame reappears. Other sites may look better in a full window and you may wish to manually hide the left-hand frame. To return to this home page at any time click "home" at the top of the left-hand frame. | |

| The World Wide Web has become saturated with information on every subject imaginable. It is becoming increasingly difficult for an internet surfer to find local information when the web seemingly has no international boundaries. This is particularly true for newcomers to the internet. Search engines help, but the results are often so numerous, ambiguous, or weighted in favour of commercial sites that they are of no use at all. In addition, many of the more interesting local sites are not listed with any search engines. I wanted to create an easily accessible web index of local information, and other information that I access regularly, for my internet start page. I wanted the index to be available while viewing a web page so that I could instantly switch to another page without going to favourites or bookmarks. I did not want all the information to be overwhelming by appearing in the index all at once. I wanted to be able to open category files as I required them to easily find the web site I required. Unfortunately, this technology is currently only available with Internet Explorer version 4 and higher, although I am hoping that later versions of Netscape Navigator will incorporate this feature. Once created, I found the site so helpful that I decided to make it available to anyone who was interested. I have added local sites that many surfers do not know exist or do not have the time to search for, and I am updating the index regularly. I have split this link site into two sections: a) the information section relates to sites that primarily provides information of a non-commercial nature, although a few of the sites do have some commercial content, and b) the marketplace section relates primarily to local commercial sites. Please send me an e-mail if you have any suggestions or comments. | |

| There has been a tremendous growth in the number of businesses run from Canadian homes over the past few years, and the growth is continuing at an ever increasing rate. Home-based businesses are run by working parents, students, retirees, the handicapped, and by individuals from many other walks of life, either out of a desire to be self-employed or out of necessity. Such entrepreneurs are successful in selling products and/or services by making use of their talents, their skills or by shear hard work. If you own a home-based business it is difficult to become recognised in your community at reasonable cost and, if you are a potential client or customer, it is difficult to locate a local home-based business that will provide the service or product that you need. For this reason, I have developed the B.C. Home-Based Business Directory. When looking for a particular product or service, please look here first and support your local entrepreneurs. Click the arrow in the box at the top of the left-hand frame and select "HBB Directory" from the drop-down list to access the Home-Based Business Directory at any time. | |

| If you find yourself using this site often I would recommend that
you set it up as your start page through your browser. In any case, if you feel that you
may wish to return to this site, I would suggest that you bookmark http://www.linksabound.com/ for easy
access in the future. To bookmark a page viewed within a frame (such as the one you are viewing now) do NOT use the Favorites or Bookmark feature in the menu bar or icon bar of your browser. Instead, click the right mouse button within the boundaries of the frame that you wish to bookmark, then select either "Add to Favorites..." (Internet Explorer) or "Add to Bookmark" (Netscape) from the drop-down menu. |

| This site is optimized for Internet Explorer version 4.0 and later browser versions. Most earlier versions do not have the capability to present the drop-down feature, and neither does Netscape up to version 4. When the menu is not shown compressed, it is fully expanded and requires navigation with the scroll bars. | |

To disable Call Alert and/or Call Again If you subscribe to Call Alert, a call alert tone could interrupt your modem call. To disable the Call Alert tone in B.C. add 70#, before the telephone number of your ISP. You may also become annoyed at hearing a voice telling you that for a small charge you will be notified when the line becomes free every time you reach a busy signal. This could slow down your modem redial. To disable this Call Again feature in B.C. add *02, before the telephone number. These codes can be combined, thus: 70#,*02,555-5555. |

To receive telephone calls while you are surfing the web Internet Call Director is a new service from Telus that allows you to be notified of incoming calls while you are online. An incoming call will cause a window to pop up on your computer screen identifying the name and number of the person who is calling. Then, with the click of your computer mouse, you can choose to answer the call (disconnecting from the internet in the process), forward the call to another number (such as your cell phone), send the caller to your voice mailbox, or play one of two recorded messages. For more information about Internet Call Director, please click here. |
